Author

Katherine Smith Dedrick is the author of Deviant Agendas and Private Agendas, the first two books of The V – Files, a legal thriller series about Victoria Rodessa, a strong female protagonist. She is also the author of the newly released Tangled Verdict, a V – Files novella that jumps decades forward into Victoria’s life after years at the top of her legal game. She also wrote The 10 Things I Wish Someone Would Have Told Me, a book to help mentor women through their lives and careers.

Attorney

Katherine has been an attorney for more than thirty years and has litigated in US federal and state courts, and served on the management team of a national law firm. She is also a co-founder of a consulting company and worked with attorneys in different countries like New Zealand and Australia, helping them navigate the aftermath of natural disasters like earthquakes and cyclones for their clients. She is also a commercial arbitrator and has handled more than 30 arbitrations. Katherine holds a law degree with high honors from IIT Chicago Kent and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In addition to writing novels and practicing law, she has received the Business Insurance Women to Watch Award, the Women with Vision Award, and the Mercedes Mentor Award for her founding of a not for profit to mentor young women heading into their careers.

Katherine has given presentations on legal, business, and mentoring in many states throughout the US. She has been privileged to present in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Mexico and New Zealand, appearing on TVNZ and as a panel member at the New Zealand Insurance Council Conference. Katherine’s most recent international in person speaking was in Samoa to teach and exchange arbitration and mediation methods with Samoans. Katherine has been a guest on numerous radio shows across the country to discuss her book on mentoring, networking and women in business, as well as her legal thriller novels. Additionally, Katherine appeared on the podcast series Mind Over Matter and Networlding. During these episodes she covered topics from entrepreneurship to mentoring, all driven by her business and philanthropic experiences. Katherine serves as an Independent Trustee for an asset management company, and is the recent past Chair of the North American Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
